You've got the right course if you're looking for fun, learning and quality coaching in a dynamic rough water environment. If it's a windy day, we have the option of beach surfing or maybe a downwind paddle or playing and developing skills in the Swellies (on The Menai Straits). If it's calm, we head for one of the many tide races and overfalls Anglesey has to offer.
With a ratio of 4:1, you will get more support and guidance towards achieving your goals.
If your new to dynamic water then consider our Intermediate sea kayaking course which offers a gradual and progressive introduction to tidal currents, wind, swell and surf.

Our Surf and Tide Race Skills courses are for:
We'll introduce various skills and tactics to support your progression, enabling you to develop greater independence in dynamic and rough water handling. This will be through sharing planning opportunities, decision making, and considering risk and benefit in dynamic rough water environments.
Your ability to roll is not required for this course.
Experience the thrill of catching a wave, refining those skills, developing greater control, stretching your comfort zone, increasing your confidence, and having fun at the same time.
Early Spring and late Autumn tends to be more suitable for Moderate water and Advanced paddlers, due to more commonly, windy conditions. While late Spring into the Summer and early Autumn is more suitable for Moderate to Advanced paddlers.

Thank you for all the FUN !
Fun - not a word heard very much in the last 12 months (2020)
Fun is defined by the Oxford English Dictionary as "Light-hearted pleasure, enjoyment, or amusement; boisterous joviality or merrymaking; entertainment". Although particularly associated with recreation and play, it may be encountered during working time.
I think that sums up why I enjoy Coastal Spirit courses
Thank you - David
Great day with Sally working on boat handling, reading the water and its ok to feel uncomfortable.
Cemaes to Bull Bay was perfect, with wind with tide and then wind against by the afternoon so we got a few waves and a nice push along the coast.
It was nice to see Rob again too. Thanks for helping with the shutle!
Great team and super time on our Shetland Adventure with the tall ship Lady of Avenel Sailing. Otters, Puffins, Orca and MuckleFlugga!
Thanks to Zoe Robinson and Hamish Leslie for their support and inputs.

Surf & tide race course, with a good blend of dynamic water over the three days. With Rhoscolyn and the Beacon, Cemaes to Bull Bay via Middle Mouse and the Swellies. We had some super rock features on the north coast on Friday and just the right amount of swell. My highlight was this interesting water spout - it was so much fun!
It was a pleasure paddling with you all and thanks to Craig Young for his support.

P&H Sea Kayaks "And I'm probably learning more from his mentoring now, as my paddling horizons expand, than ever before. I can't count how many questions I've asked... and he's answered. Roger has the knack of making that suggestion that radically changes your thinking and moves your paddling on in leaps and bounds."
"I've just completed a two day 4* Sea kayak training course with Roger. Having been coached by Roger in the past, I choose to do this course with Roger because I knew I would get a great deal from the course. My expectations were certainly well and truly met"
"There are a number of wonderful things about Roger. He has a very light touch in his coaching, and he's always smiling and encouraging you to relax into the enjoyment of the day"
