Shetland Adventure ~ Hostel Based.

Our Adventure

This is your chance to experience sea kayaking along the coast and islands of Shetland.  A superb sea kayaking location with crystal clear waters, sea stacks, big clifts, huge caves, Geo's, gullies, arches and wildlife such as gannets, puffins, otters, dolphins, porpoises and.... if we're lucky, Orca and other whales too.  With its northern location, it's cooler, wild and very remote at times.  Being flatter than most West Coast islands means the midge population is smaller in number!!  

The sole use of a Hostel is included in the cost of the course.  The hostel offers good self-catering accommodation, with a big kitchen, lounge, dining room and a sunroom that works well as a drying room.

Harris Sea Kayak Exploration

Our Adventure

The Isle of Harris and Lewis are part of the same Scottish island divided by mountains, with Harris being the Southern part. Harris and Lewis are the largest Scottish island, with a stunning coastline.

The Isle of Harris is an adventurous and memorable sea kayaking destination - with wild islands, white sand beaches, rugged headlands, sheltered bays, sea stacks, caves, eagles, otters and occasionally dolphins and whales. The islands are open to the full force of the Atlantic on their western side, with the east coast looking across the Minch. Two contrasting coastlines offer kayak journeying possibilities under most conditions. This trip provides moderate water paddlers with a great chance to explore the wilder, more exciting, exposed coastline. Read more here ...

Sea kayaking Around Wales by Di Lee

In 2011 Coastal Spirit decided to run 'One BIG Adventure' (1BA), a fast track and rapid development programme, with a one-month long paddle around Wales.  The plan was to use the canals and waterways on the inland section and then along the coastline, to rejoin the dots back to the start point.  Di Lee, one of the course participants wrote an article about her adventure in two parts, which can be read below.  Enjoy!
