Moderate Water Sea Kayaking Skills -
UK, North Wales, Anglesey:
Four days at £400 with your sea kayak and
with a 4:1 ratio
On our Moderate Water Skills course, (some times also called Inter-vanced sea kayaking), we will begin with an open discussion over a coffee based on what you need to develop in the wind, waves and tidal flow. We will support you in developing your dynamic rough water skills, effective boat handling and understanding the effects of weather, tide and waves on the paddle plan.
Our Moderate Water Sea Kayaking Skills course is ideal if you are a paddler who wants to improve your knowledge of practical and theoretical navigation and decision-making to keep you and your friends safe on the water. During the Moderate Water Skills Sea Kayaking course, we will share our expertise with you, taking you to some of the best dynamic waters that Anglesey and the UK have to offer. Each day will be a mixture of journeying and coaching whilst having fun, and there is no better way to progress your skills!
Here at Coastal Spirit, we will support and enable you to develop strategies to achieve your goals. For example, working towards the BC Coastal Sea Kayak Award or becoming more self-sufficient.
For this course, you will:
- have the ability to paddle in Beaufort Force 3/4 winds, 1.0 mt swell, 0.5 mt surf and up to 2 knots of current
- have a good level of aerobic fitness
- be comfortable in the water
In summary, you will gain and develop:
- effective boat handling in various moderate water environments
- tidal planning and exploring the effects of weather, wind and swell on our intended journey
- fun, lots of smiles and increased confidence!
- an opportunity to work on your goals with professional guidance and support
We are confident you will leave with new skills, greater understanding, smiles and awareness of the impact of weather and tide, and increased confidence to paddle your own trips with greater independence.

We will beach surf or choose a downwind paddle if it is windy. If calm, we will choose one of the many tide races to work with.
This course is for moderate water to advanced paddlers who are comfortable in F4 winds, 1m swell, 0.5 m surf and 2 knots of moving water, as a minimum.

Roger has aimed to create more space between courses to allow for a bespoke day or two at 1:1 or 2:1. Keep in mind if you have specific goals either Zoe Robinson or Roger may be able to assist and guide you towards achieving your aspiration.

P&H Sea Kayaks 
Coastal Spirit are heading back to the beautiful island of Mull, with its stunning wildlife for a sea kayak expedition on the 30/4 - 4th May 2027 and, at £690 per person.
