Advanced Water (5 Star) Sea Kayak Leader Training - 4 days at £300 or 5 days at £350

Four or Five days allows more time to explore techniques, polish skills, paddle in varied conditions and with out cramming it all in.

Successful performance at this level indicates that you have a high level of performance and knowledge, judgement, involving a high level of personal skill and leadership in advanced situations. This is a leadership award and the appropriate course for paddlers who wish to lead groups in advanced tidal waters and in dynamic weather conditions typified by the Climate of the British Isles.

Action Centred Leadership, The Chimp Paradox and the principles of CLAP, just a few of the theories that will be put into practice over the time your working with Roger.

The (five star) advanced sea kayak leader has the skills and judgement to select appropriate trips for a range of ability levels, however it is not a coaching award and not suitable for introducing beginners to the sport.

This award is intended for paddlers who journey on the sea in areas where tidal races, headlands, open crossings, swell and challenging coastlines will be encountered.

The Open Water Navigation + Tidal Planning (OWNTP) day is a theory day, but with 4 other days on the water you will have plenty of time to put theory into practice, with out any rush!

A leadership award with the appropriate training for paddlers leading groups in advanced tidal waters and dynamic weather conditions. The course includes night navigation, feedback and a detailed action plan, for when you leave.

Its worth keeping in mind that Roger is an active BC level 5 coach and 5* trainer and assessor, who has a number of significant big trips, where he has worked closely and led others towards a successful performance and outcome.  Around Wales in 2011 and the Roof of Britain in 2015, both had 3 clients on each and one month was allocated for the challenge.

Stella King

"There are a number of wonderful things about Roger. He has a very light touch in his coaching, and he's always smiling and encouraging you to relax into the enjoyment of the day"

Simon Turnbull

"I've just completed a two day 4* Sea kayak training course with Roger. Having been coached by Roger in the past, I choose to do this course with Roger because I knew I would get a great deal from the course. My expectations were certainly well and truly met"

Tavi Murray

"And I'm probably learning more from his mentoring now, as my paddling horizons expand, than ever before. I can't count how many questions I've asked... and he's answered. Roger has the knack of making that suggestion that radically changes your thinking and moves your paddling on in leaps and bounds."

We come recommended
I just want to say thanks. Although we only took part for 2 days we really enjoyed the course with a mix of very professional tuition and great surroundings around the Anglesey coast. I've learned a lot in these two days and feel much more secure on the water - hope to be back next year.
