14 months since the last news extract and you know somethings not right ... I just find it difficult to sit for to long in front of our PC, sitting in my boat is just so different!

I'm hopeful that with our Blog we will be able to keep an up date on courses done, provide an insight into our lives here in North Wales and what we also get up to on our days off, as well as keep people informed of courses and events coming up. Wish us good luck : )

paddlefest 2009

Coastal spirit will have a stall at this years paddelfest at Nottingham, holme pierpoint. The aim of the event is:

"To develop a new and exciting event that combines the exhibition of products and the ability to try before you buy, alongside a showcase of on water demonstrations, films shows and talks plus workshops and taster sessions to take part in."

Linking in, article and Review of rough water handeling

So that there is a greater chance that the BCU star award courses go ahead and due to the excellent faclities that the accmodation at Moefre provides we have linked in with Olly Sanders of rock and sea. This means on the 4 star sea training course who get two of us for the price of one!

Driftwood Designs

Anglesey and the Lleyn Penisular are super places for collecting driftwood. Many pieces having travelled hundreds of miles and each being unique, shaped by the sea, wind and weather and with its own journey to tell. No two pieces are ever the same.

Driftwood designs range from handmade mirrors, clocks, teelight candle blocks and quirky wall mounted coat hangers. Variations in colour and shape of the wood, add to each pieces individuality and are to be enjoyed. Collected by sea kayak (in many cases) and made in North Wales. Coming soon.

journey & expedition suport, dates and BCU courses

We can also now offer journeying and expedition support, anywhere in the UK and abroad. So if you have a group and a journey or expedition in mind or have a group and are unsure where to go then Coastal Spirit can help.

As you will see from our new page, Callender for 2009 we now have a user freindly format, so you can easily see what courses are on in each month. Although as before, if a date doesent work for you then let us know what does, as we may be able to offer other dates.

We are also running more BCU personal performance /star award courses, in a 2, 3 and 5 day format. Due to rescue practice and time spent in the water we have also linked in with a b&b, on Anglesey, which provides excellent breakfasts, has a super drying room, and all at a realistic price.

We have now got new Peak buoyancy aids (sea vest zip), hooded paddle jackets and long john wetsuits. Thanks to Peak and Brookbank and although they haven't arrived yet seven glass fibre sea kayaks from sea kayaking uk are on order and are due to be collected early August. The order is a selection of romanys, romany s and explorers.

Dates are now down for the successful winter skills programme.

Coastal Spirit welcomes OZZY

Where has the Spring gone and whats new ...

Ozzy is a new addition to the team. Ozzy is a rescue dog of about 4 years old, a collie/lurcher cross and loves being out side and on the hill.

We added two new programmes at the start of the year, a two day overnight tour where all food and equipment is provided and a Scottish expedition from Moidart to Morar. Both have had interest and two places have been sold on a tour.

We have also added a new two day course, Sea and Seals, aimed at the person who wants to be guided rather develop skills and experience wild life in its natural environment.

New Programme - Sea kayak winter skills

Winter skills is a new exciting programme which keeps you active over the Autumn, Winter and Spring, so when the summer arrives your ready for your next sea kayaking adventure.

Ideal if you did a short course, been on a kayaking holiday this summer, would rather learning over a longer period of time and have some days holiday left and you were wondering what to do with them.

A single sea kayaking day would costs £80 per person, making a total of £400 for five days. You will get these five days for £350, making a £50 saving ... there are Only 4 places, so to ensure a place, book now and be ready for the Summer.

If five days is not possible then as long as a minimum of three days are booked then you still have a reduced price of £210.

Either way you can choose to pay the whole amount or in monthly instalments, what ever is easier.
